In Panama City, we have a train
that seems to operate whenever it wants. I’m sure there is some kind
of schedule, but if so I’ve never seen it and I’ve never noticed
a pattern to when it runs. I have been stuck by said train on many occasions
as I’m sure most of you have. Every time it’s happened, I have been
trying to get somewhere and have had limited time to do so. My patience
is tested
during times like these so in the hope to overcome immense
frustration the next time I’m stuck, I have compiled a short list
of things I can do to occupy my seemingly wasted time waiting. Here
are the top 5:
5. Shout out the window at
the train to move faster because you are in labor and on the way to
the hospital.
This
actually happened to me and though not effective, it was very
therapeutic!
You can substitute your own reason for shouting, I’m sure it will
work
just as well.
4. Play a nice calming game
of Sudoku in order to control my sudden urge to shout out the window
at the top of my lungs.
Oh
crap! My Sudoku book is at home…
3. Try to quiet the screaming
baby in the backseat.
Seriously,
I’m only 3 minutes from home! Here I come sweet Sudoku…
2. Phone a friend to complain
about how long you have been stopped by the train. Include why you’re
late and that you have nothing to keep you busy since you left your
Sudoku book at home and on top of that you have a massive headache from
your screaming baby sitting behind you.
And when all else fails, the
# 1 thing to do when you’re stopped by the train is:
Count how many cars try to
cut between you and the car behind you who has so graciously not blocked
the side street you are turning off of.
This
morning the count was 8… jerks!
